Carver Brewing Company
A beloved, second-generation brewpub in Durango, CO becomes a ZFP Member.
A Community Hub
Carver Brewing Company has been a staple of the historic downtown Durango, CO since 1986. Founders and brothers, Bill and Jim Carver, arrived in Colorado in the 70’s as young ski bums from their native Wisconsin.
Having grown up working in a traditional German bakery, they decided to make a living in their new state by opening up the Carver Brothers Bakery in Aspen. Shortly after, they moved to Durango and the Carver Brewing Company was born.
“As a brewery and restaurant, we depend on agriculture every day, and this is a meaningful way for us to give back and be part of the solution.”
- Colin Carver
The Next Generation
Since then, the brewpub has become one of the most highly lauded breweries in the Western Slope, and is now run by Bill’s kids, Colin and Claire. When it comes to brewing their beer and sourcing ingredients for their menu, the Carvers know that it starts with the soil.
“We joined Zero Foodprint because the future of our food and beer starts with the health of our soil. Supporting farmers as they transition to regenerative practices isn’t just the right thing to do - it’s essential to building a resilient, local food system,” says Colin Carver.

Zero Foodprint (ZFP) is a nonprofit organization restoring the climate, one acre at a time. We believe that by regenerating soil, local food economies can play a critical role in reversing the global climate crisis. We work with food and beverage businesses, philanthropy, and government to bring the next dollar to implement the next regenerative practice on the next acre. This regenerative economy benefits every person who grows food, every person who sells food, and every person on this planet who eats food.
