Creative energy to heal the Earth.

The Sonoma Mountain Institute manages a collection of properties sprinkled throughout Sonoma and Marin Counties devoted to land preservation and education. They coordinate with dairies and beef suppliers to take in their young cattle for grazing from December to June, when their land supplies the best ecological conditions for “teenage” cattle.

They used their grant to apply a thin layer of compost on a portion of their land, to keep the soil rich with carbon throughout the summer and improve forage for the animals.

To sum up what this land has taught me, humility. Biology and ecology does not behave in [a binary] way, and I need to learn how to let go and observe what is actually happening versus what I want to happen or what I think is happening.
